Remove "Enter Digital" Ads (Virus Removal Guide)

Ever had Enter Digital adware on your PC? No doubt you'll be echoing my sentiments when I say that this truly is a scourge of the Internet. This adware is irritating! Whilst banner adverts or advert boxes or links might be slightly easier to ignore, if you've ever been bombarded with pop-up or pop-under windows I'm sure that like me you're not adware's biggest fan. Being infected with Enter Digital means endless clicking to close advert windows, only to have them pop straight back up again seconds later.

But not only can Enter Digital be a nuisance but there is something a little creepy about the fact that the adverts it displays on your screen somehow uncannily match the products or topics that you've recently been looking at or reading about. Coincidence? Not at all.

How does it know what I've been browsing?

Adware – Advertising-Supported Software – normally comes bundled with another software program. Enter Digital is no exception. This might be a free download or it could be something you've paid for. When you download the original program you are interested in, it sneaks onto your computer alongside it and installs a component on your PC. This component is a tracker which monitors which websites you visit, records this info and sends it back to the software developer. This then allows them to decide which adverts they want you to see.

A pretty aggressive form of marketing, to be sure, but if you're somewhat immune to advertising, even if you do find the constant stream of adverts annoying, there are a number of not so great knock on effects. Because this component is now hard at work constantly monitoring and recording data whenever you're online, it can really slow down your PC's and affect the CPU's performance. It can also slow your Internet connection down and may even cause your computer to keep crashing.

How do you know if you have Enter Digital adware on your PC?
  • You're seeing lots more adverts than usual, including pop-up ads
  • These adverts echo recent searches you've made
  • A new, unfamiliar toolbar has installed itself
  • After uninstalling, it keeps returning
  • Your browser page or search engine keeps changing
  • Your computer is running sluggishly or keeps crashing
How do you protect yourself against this adware?
  • Do not download anything if you don't recognize the publisher
  • Read license agreements carefully so you know exactly what you're installing
  • Do not download files or attachments or click links in emails from unknown senders or from websites you don't trust
  • Install a firewall on your PC
  • Install pop-up blockers on your PC
  • Try not to visit websites that are X rated or contain illegal material
  • Never close a pop-up or –under window by hitting 'ok' or 'close' – any text button basically, even if it says this is the way to close it. Only ever click the red 'X' in the corner
  • If you haven't approved an ActiveX control, don't install it – they are vulnerable to malware
  • Install reputable anti-malware software and run it regularly
