PassWizard Ads Removal Guide

It's highly likely you've already heard of PassWizard adware and fairly likely you've been infected by it – I know I have! Perhaps you're concerned you may have it on your PC at the moment and would like to know what it could do. Please use this guide to remove PassWizard ads and any associated malware.

What is PassWizard?

It is a program which installs a component onto your PC or device that sends you adverts without your permission. These Ads by PassWizard may be pop-up windows or banners, and they're not only annoying but they can have repercussions too.

This adware can:

• Interact and create problems with other programs installed on your computer, possibly disrupting your operating system which makes your CPU and Internet connection slow right down
• It can also slow you down thanks to it adding websites to your bookmarks folder, thus using up a portion of your memory
• Redirect you to websites you didn't want to visit – often sites of an adult or illegal nature. This could cause embarrassment or problems depending on your work or home environment
• As already noted it enables pop-up, banner and pop-under adverts that are extremely irritating to deal with
• Thanks to its issues and conflicts with other programs and its ability to make your computer run slowly, adware also puts your computer's security at risk as this can cause instability on your machine

One of the problems with PassWizard is that once installed, it hides itself so well that it can be difficult to firstly find, and secondly remove. Some adware is even so sneaky that it prevents you from accessing the places you need to visit so you can delete it!

How do I avoid getting infected by PassWizard?

There are steps you can take to reduce your risk of getting infected by adware. Here are the most important:

• Install a known and trusted brand of anti-virus on your PC, run it often and keep it up to date – this is your first line of defence against all malware
• Use pop-up blockers. Some browsers offer you the option of blocking pop-ups and tell you if the website you're visiting is asking you to enable them. You need to determine how much of a risk you think the website is.
• Never download software from third party websites or sites you don't trust as programs are frequently packaged with adware.
• When you do install something on your machine stop and think whether or not you really need it. If it's something reputable it should be fine but downloading something 'jokey' can be risky.
• When closing pop-up window click the red 'X' in the corner and not 'OK' or 'Close' etc as if the pop-up is disreputable it may use the clickable button as a go-ahead to install more adware or even another more serious form of malware.

PassWizard Removal Guide:

1. First of all, download anti-malware software and run a full system scan. It will detect and remove this infection from your computer. You may then follow the manual removal instructions below to remove the leftover traces of this malware. Hopefully you won't have to do that.

2. Remove PassWizard related programs from your computer using the Add/Remove Programs control panel (Windows XP) or Uninstall a program control panel (Windows 7 and Windows 8).

Go to the Start Menu. Select Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, select Control Panel → Uninstall a Program.



If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for "control panel".



Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control panel from there.



3. When the Add/Remove Programs or the Uninstall a Program screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and remove the following:

• PassWizard
• and any other recently installed application

Simply select each application and click Remove. If you are using Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8, click Uninstall up near the top of that window. When you're done, please close the Control Panel screen.

Remove PassWizard related extensions from Google Chrome:

1. Click on Chrome menu button. Go to Tools → Extensions.



2. Click on the trashcan icon to remove PassWizard, LyricsSay-1, MediaPlayerV1, HD-Plus 3.5 and other extensions that you do not recognize.



If the removal option is grayed out then read how to remove extensions installed by enterprise policy.




Remove PassWizard related extensions from Mozilla Firefox:

1. Open Mozilla Firefox. Go to Tools → Add-ons.



2. Select Extensions. Click Remove button to remove PassWizard, LyricsSay-1, MediaPlayerV1, HD-Plus 3.5 and other extensions that you do not recognize.

Remove PassWizard related add-ons from Internet Explorer:

1. Open Internet Explorer. Go to Tools → Manage Add-ons. If you have the latest version, simply click on the Settings button.



2. Select Toolbars and Extensions. Click Remove/Disable button to remove the browser add-ons listed above.
