Remove Adware Generic_r.KF and Adware Generic_r.KG (Uninstall Guide)

In this article we're going to take a look at Adware Generic_r.KF and Adware Generic_r.KG infections. It's possible that if you're reading this article you've come across the term Adware Generic_r and want to find out more. In that case it's also possible that you've fallen victim to one. In short, it's a generic detection for adware that displays ads infected computer. The different letters stands for different adware variants that belong the same same adware family called Adware Generic_r. Very often, adware programs from this family come bundled with spyware, PUPs, and malicious browser extensions. This guide will walk you through removing all traces of this adware from your computer.

Well, you're not alone. Even the quickest Google search will show dozens of forums full of posts from frustrated PC users asking how to remove Adware Generic_r.KF or Adware Generic_r.KG, or why they suddenly get so many pop-up ads on their computers. It might seem tempting to immediately blame your anti-virus software, but before you uninstall it and fork out your hard earned cash for a new one, stop for a moment because it's not actually its fault. The thing is, adware and PUPs are not just annoying they're extremely sneaky too. Now you need to do a little bit of detective work and think back to when you first noticed the issues with your computer. Chances are you downloaded some software just beforehand.

Adware Generic_r.KF and Adware Generic_r.KG detection
This is how the majority of adware and similar unwanted programs work. It's true that some might be pop-up adverts or dodgy email attachments but more often than not they are hiding in the background of another piece of software. Again, before you start blaming the software, even some of the most well-known names in internet software end up being bundled with adware, whether they are aware of it or not. Take Adobe Reader, Skype or Flash Player as examples. We all know and trust these programs however the fact is if you install them you run the risk of also downloading an adware program too. But how? The answer is simple, take the fake Flash update, for instance. It's designed to look like the real thing claiming that your Flash player may by out of date. The same can be said about other popular software, most of them are being wrapped in fake software installers by scammers. Important lesson to learn: download software from trusted sites only. Or even better, download from official websites. Otherwise, you may end up with Adware Generic_r.KF or similar adware on your computer.

So how do you download the program that you do want and avoid the one you don't? Is it even possible? Well, yes it is. You just need to exercise a little due care and attention. You'll have noticed that when you download software you'll see windows filled with small print and buttons asking you to click 'OK' or 'Next' or 'Continue'. Well this is when, unless you're careful, you may end up downloading something that you don't want onto your computer.

The upside is that usually adware programs are mentioned in this wording (although this in itself can be ambiguous) and should have a check box next to the mention. You just need to make sure that you're either checking the box to say 'no' you don't want to also download some adware application that will display coupons, etc. – or, and here's the even sneakier part, un-checking it to say the same thing. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Good luck and be safe online!
