Google Releases Android 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 Updates for Nexus Devices

It’s been just over a month since Google officially announced the new Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat, but it isn’t sitting on its laurels. There are already over-the-air (OTA) updates rolling out to Nexus devices, and depending on which one you have, you should be seeing a notification to download Android 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 soon.
Android 4.4.1 is the big update and brings a bunch of new changes. Google Nexus 5 reviewshave noted that the camera isn’t as good as what you get on other smartphones, but the update is meant to fix that. It squashes some bugs and speeds up the overall performance of the camera, even with the optical image stabilization.
Apart from that, the new Photos app is now the default Gallery app, haptic feedback has been tweaked, volume issues have been sorted out, and a bunch of bugs have been fixed.
Koushik Dutta of CyanogenMod also says that the much-vaunted Chromecastwill get the ability to mirror the screen of your Android device soon, something that currently works only with solutions like Miracast:

From the patches I see in 4.4.1, they’ll be adding Android mirroring to Chromecast very soon. Unfortunately that API is not available to anyone but Google and the OEM. Similar solutions to different hardware can’t be built (Apple TV, etc).
But Android 4.4.1 didn’t fix every issue and Google has listened to user feedback and quickly released another update: Android 4.4.2, which fixes some more bugs, although Google hasn’t specified those in its changelog. If you haven’t got the original 4.4.1 update, you will be getting the option to go directly to 4.4.2 with a 54MB update.
